Eurofondo - BITUMINOUS PRIMER

Description

EUROFONDO is a solvent based bituminous primer for priming concrete roofs, walls and floors, cementitious screeds, bitumen felts, weathered corrugated iron and steel, etc. prior to the application of bituminous materials.
EUROFONDO is a petroleum hydrocarbon solvent based, highly penetrative thin solution, black in colour. EUROFONDO has many uses in the construction industry.

Properties:

EUROFONDO has been specially formulated for use as primer prior to the use of bituminous waterproofing, adhesive and protective coatings with wide application in the construction industry. Main use is as a primer for concrete and cementitious substrates, especially porous and dusty surfaces, prior to the application of bitumen based liquid coatings such as the EUROPASTA range, bitumen based sheet membranes such as the roofing felt EUROGUM and the bitumen based joint sealants EUROFIX. It can also be used to prime metal prior to the application of a protection coating against corrosion of pipes, structural steelwork and other metallic equipment. EUROFONDO is also a recommended primer for solvent based bituminous adhesives.

Application:

All surfaces should be free from dust, dirt, oil, grease, and loose material as far as possible and must be dry. If the surface is ferrous metal then all rust must be removed, corrugated metal sheet should be allowed to weather sufficiently. EUROFONDO shoult be well scrubbed in by brush, ensuring only a very thin coating is applied: or applied thinly by spray.

Consumption:

Application rate, depending on the porosity of the substrate, should be in the range 0.10 to 0,15 litres per square meter. Certainly the rate should not exceed 0.2 litres/sqm. Allow to dry thoroughly before overcoating, this will normally take 3 to 6 hours depending on prevailing conditions. In very warm climates this drying time can be reduced to approximately 1 hour if the application is external.
